Not simply where you were born, but the people, places, traditions and stories that existed long before you.

My Roots began through my own exploration of ancestry. As I traced my Polish and broader Slavic, Scottish, Celtic and French roots, I became fascinated not only by the names and places I discovered, but by the patterns, traditions, symbols and stories that survived through generations.

It made me wonder: how much of what we carry began long before us?

We Inherit More Than a Name

Our ancestry can give us clues to the people and cultures that came before us, but our roots don't dictate who we must become.

We inherit stories. Traditions. Family names. Recipes. Objects. Expressions. Beliefs. Behaviours. Strengths. Sometimes even patterns we eventually decide should end with us.

And then we add our own chapter. That is what My Roots explores: the relationship between inheritance and identity.

Knowing where we come from can help us understand the larger story we belong to. But self-awareness gives us something equally important—the ability to decide what we honour, what we reinterpret, and what we choose to carry forward.
